- Missing, cracked, or curled shingles (check from the ground with binoculars)
- Round dark spots on shingles and gutters — hail dents
- Granule loss: dark bare patches; check gutters for granule buildup
- Damaged ridge cap at the peak of the roof
- Lifted or separated flashing around chimney, skylights, vents
- Sagging or soft spots along the roofline — structural damage
